INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIED MASTER GROOMER (ICMG)

Qualification stages for the Certifications, are divided into :

THREE TRACKS

  • Track One
  • Track Two
  • Track Three
    • Master Groomer is divided into five modules. Four Modules consist of One Practical Examination and One Written Examination (Utility, Gun Dog, Terrier and Mixed Breed). One Module consists of Four Written Examinations, (Pastoral, Hound, Toy and Working)

The Tracks are broken down into qualifications and learners have 5 years to complete all stages once started. There are distinct stages of qualifications within ICMG to demonstrate all capacities in dog grooming. There are practical exams and written exams which include you showing a clear understanding of Breed standards along with the care of coat types, diseases and much more

Certified Professional Groomer

(CPG)

Whether you are a beginner or advanced, you have to show that you can effectively and safely bath and dry a coated breed and perform a basic pet/kennel trim.

There are two written exams which include handling, grooming techniques, behaviour, clippers, blades, canine skin and coats, and safe use of equipment.

A station evaluation is also required which will be sent to you.

Certified Advanced Professional Groomer

(CAPG)

CAPG requires groomers to demonstrate advanced grooming skills and special care that needs  to be taken with Toy breeds and dogs with double coats.

You are required to trim a Toy breed (which can be a Toy Poodle)  showing efficient, special care of handling and grooming. The exam is  45 minutes.

There is a practical Double Coated breed exam. You are required to demonstrate the technical skills and consideration for grooming double coats. The exam is 90 minutes

There is a 30 minutes written exam on the information within the CAPG work book.

International Certified Master Groomer

(ICMG)

(ICMG) requires groomers to demonstrate advanced grooming skills and complete written exams .

The practical exams require groomers to display their skills in grooming to the breed standards and show technical skills, balance and angulation.

Practical exams are 2 hours

Written exams are 1 hour for each paper on breed standards from each Kennel Club group.

      Honour the spirit of IPG, Inc. and to continually strive to gain respect for the industry by promoting professionalism in the field of pet grooming.

      Work toward the highest standards in pet styling, stay current with industry trends and continue to improve my capabilities as a professional pet groomer with higher education.

      Be honest, fair, and responsible in all business transactions and abide by all laws affecting my business and profession. Encourage responsible pet ownership and promote the importance of professional pet care.

Use my certification titles and IPG logos only as allowed and approved by IPG.
